3.1.5   Discuss the Organizational Structure of Federal and Provincial Govt (Head of State, Head of Govt, Head of Province and Head of Provincial Govt.)

Federal Government:

  1. Head of State: President:
    • The President of Pakistan serves as the ceremonial head of state.
    • The President’s role is symbolic, representing the unity of the nation and promoting national cohesion.
    • The President’s powers include granting pardons, conferring awards, and representing Pakistan in international forums.
  1. Head of Government: Prime Minister:

    • The Prime Minister is usually the leader of the majority party or coalition in the National Assembly.

Provincial Government:

  1. Head of Province: Governor:
    • Each province in Pakistan has a Governor appointed by the President.
    • The Governor represents the federal government in the province and acts as its representative.
    • The Governor’s role includes approving provincial legislation, promulgating ordinances, and exercising certain discretionary powers.
  1. Head of Provincial Government: Chief Minister:
    • The Chief Minister is the head of the provincial government and exercises executive authority within the province.
    • The Chief Minister is responsible for implementing policies, managing provincial affairs, and overseeing the functioning of provincial departments.
    • The Chief Minister is usually the leader of the majority party or coalition in the Provincial Assembly.
