2.1.1. Define the Term Constitution.
Constitution
A constitution is a set of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is governed. It serves as the supreme law of the land, outlining the structure of government, defining the rights and duties of citizens, and establishing the framework for the operation of governmental institutions. Constitutions typically delineate the distribution of powers among different branches of government, such as the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, and often include mechanisms for amending or interpreting the document. Constitutions can be written or unwritten, formal, or informal, but they are always considered foundational to the legal and political system of a country or organization.
In simple words,A constitution is set of rules and principles; it may be written or unwritten, by which a group of people, a country or an organization is to be governed.
Who is responsible for constitution-making in a state?
Lawmaking or legislation in a state is the responsibility of the parliament, which comprises elected public representatives in democratic systems. In Pakistan National Assembly is responsible for legislation that is directly elected by the people. Laws passed by the National Assembly are subject to review by the Senate for any potential amendments.
