3.3.5 State Areas that Became the Part of Pakistan in 1947
In 1947, the areas that became part of Pakistan as a result of the partition of British India were:
West Punjab: This region included parts of the Punjab province with a Muslim majority population. It became part of West Pakistan (now Pakistan).
Sindh: Sindh was a separate province with a predominantly Muslim population. It became part of West Pakistan (now Pakistan).
Balochistan: Balochistan, with its distinct cultural and ethnic identity, became part of West Pakistan (now Pakistan).
North-West Frontier Province (NWFP): This province, with a Muslim majority, became part of West Pakistan (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan).
